The Hunter and His Hounds

Description

The remaining species of tyrannosauroids that survived on Pangea eventually evolved sentience, culture, and language much like many of the other species. Eventually the Andrewsarchus mongoliensis evolved, and after many thousands of years developed a symbiotic relationship with the remaining tyrannosauroid clans much like the relationship between man and dog.

The process of "domestication" - if it can be called that - resulted in a specie of wild animals akin to dingos in behavior. No Andrewsarchus is ever truly tame, and no tyrannosauroid ever actually 'owns' any of his hounds. The creatures come and go as they please, and generally they do please to stay close to the clans. Hunting in packs with a full-grown Tarbosaurus bataar as the alpha results in less injuries for the 'hounds', and an easier hunt on the master.

The tyrannosauroids feed their Andrewsarchus 'pets' leftovers from the kill, and refuse like unused skin and bones, guts, and other undesirable pieces. While the saurians could - and used to - eat every part of a kill, parts such as hair, horn, and bone don't digest in their guts and so they have to regurgitate large 'pellets' much like owls and other birds of prey.

If an Andrewsarchus is not content with his life as a 'pet' he is free to go and attempt adjust to life on his own. However, in the wild Andrewsarchus are solitary animals and so hunting is reserved for smaller animals.

A symbiotic relationship between Andrewsarchus and Tarbosaurus? It's a very original and awesome idea!
